Just last week I spoke to a darling old lady in Philadelphia. She was kvetching about her granddaughter who is not frum (religous) however she has ‘Jewish soul’ like grandma puts it. She was repeating to me how the kid comes to visit all the time and she tries so hard to tell her about tznius etc. Now, take a secular teenager, going to a public school. Why would she listen to grandma? I like what this grandma says. She tells her: Cover it up. You want the boys to chase you, right? So don’t show it to them. Cover it, and they will seek more. Now, that works for a public school teenager because as grandma reports back, she no longer wears those sleazy clothes that they manufacturer specifically targeted to be provocative. It’s heartbreaking to see five year olds with phrases slashed across their t-shirts and bottoms too, words that mean come get me and so on. It’s time the secular world examine why Hashem has given the Jewish nation the laws of family purity, and modesty. It is to enhance the value of the woman and the potency of what she possesses. So cover it up, Britney. It’s time.
